Time to have a home online.

September 9, 2008 · Posted in About_nimbleogre

I’m now on so many sites and social networks that I thought it was time that I had a home online.

Currently I’m just using default wordpress templates but will be dusting off my CSS hat and will try to redesign soon. Also need to work out how to get all my other residences represented here and if I’m just going to show “find me at links” or have feeds from all the other sites.

At the moment I’m on Facebook, LinkedIn, Pownce, Digg, Twitter, LastFM, Flickr, FineTune, Upcoming and Dopplr… having feeds for all these makes for quite a messy page… Will have to consider exactly what I want Nimbleogre.net to do. It’s an agrogator for all my differnt web presence but also some where I want to post my thought about what I do for a living and general musings and thoughts… hmmm tricky.

    Nice work Ben!

I recommend FlickrRSS for bringing a Flickr feed in to your WordPress blog:

I also think I use the following for del.icio.us feeds:

and have toyed with using this guy for a last.fm feed:

    Good luck!

You could also try using something like friendfeed (eg. I have the majority of what I do available via : http://friendfeed.com/interstar )

I oscillate between thinking I want to fragment my web-presence, so I can talk about different things and play different roles in different places; and wanting to bring it all back together so I can admire the totality of my achievements. I guess this tension is always going to be there on the web.
